Terms & Conditions

The agreement, in language a person can read.

Last updated 1 October 2026. By using SwordVow you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

1. Who we are and who sells to you

SwordVow is a self-accountability application operated by an independent developer ("we", "us"). Full legal entity and business address details are published on the contact page before paid subscriptions open.

Paid subscriptions and stake charges are sold and processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), acting as merchant of record. This means Paddle is the seller of record for your purchase: they issue your invoice, collect payment, handle sales tax and VAT, and handle refunds. Your contract for the purchase is with Paddle, alongside these terms. Paddle's buyer terms and privacy notice apply to the transaction itself.

2. What the service is, and what it is not

SwordVow helps you record a commitment, break it into a daily action, and see plainly how you did. It is not therapy, medical care, financial advice, or a guarantee. We make no claim that using it will cause you to reach any goal. You remain solely responsible for your decisions and your behaviour.

3. Stakes are penalties, not bets

4. Subscriptions, price and renewal

5. Your data and your account

In the current version there is no account system: your vow and your record are stored in your browser on your own device, and we cannot read or recover them. You can export everything at any time from the Vow Chamber. We cannot be responsible for data lost by clearing your browser, losing a device, or switching phones without exporting. Take a backup. See the privacy notice for exactly what is and is not collected.

6. Acceptable use

Do not: use the service to move money on behalf of someone else; create accounts or vows automatically or in bulk; scrape or resell the service; attempt to defeat the stake mechanism or the fair-use limit; use the service for anything unlawful; or upload content that is abusive, hateful or infringing. We may suspend or terminate access for any of the above, and will cancel any active subscription if we do.

7. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep SwordVow available, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change, and we may discontinue a feature; if we discontinue something you paid for and you have more than 30 days of paid access left, you may request a pro-rata refund. These terms may be updated — the date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect.

8. Liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country of residence.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is established. Consumer protections in your own country continue to apply. If something goes wrong, email support@swordvow.com first — we would rather fix it than argue about it. For payment disputes you may also contact Paddle directly, as they are the seller of record.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms: legal@swordvow.com. Everything else: contact page.
